The model village is set in 4 acres of beautiful gardens and without a doubt is better seen in drier/fine weather. However, if the weather is inclement there are several indoor or under-cover features to shelter from the showers.
VICTORIAN WINTER SCENEAs you first enter you will see the beautifully created Victorian Village scene set in the midst of a very snowy winter. The most unique aspect of this feature is the sequenced lighting which changes the scene from day to night. The daytime lighting shows the pretty snowy village and the people playing on the frozen pond, then, as the daylight fades, the lanterns and fires light up creating a truly enchanting atmosphere.
LITTLE ENDERS SOAP SETThe second feature, ‘Little Enders' creates an eventful soap scene right down to the last detail. The humorous touches, for which the Village is renowned, and the attention to detail, is second to none. Once again this feature changes from day to night display, creating two contrasting worlds.
WORLD OF MINIATURE MOVIESTake a walk through miniature dioramas recreating fascinating historical scenes and exciting moments from some of your favourite movies. All these features have been made on-site by our own craftsmen. The attention to detail is incredible. Imaginative scenes mixed with a little humour make this one of our most popular attractions. Here's a bit of a challenge, when you visit the Model Village, take a close look at the medieval castle scene, several things are out of place and from another time. How many can you spot?
BEHIND THE SCENESGives you an insight into the making of the model village. Set up in one of the former workshop, this small exhibition will give you a brief but fascinating look into how Babbacombe Model Village has developed over the years. Audio effects bring to life the history and "behind the scenes" work involved in making this one of Devon"s most famous attractions.
